Recordist's notes

bee swarm ... xlr SASS on floor to Zoom F6 ... this according to a local bee keeper was a swarm ... the bees were smeared on the outside of the hive ... he said the queen would be in the middle of the mass ... they had swarmed as the hive might have been too small for the colony ..? the combs were full ..? the old queen had died ..? the new queen had killed her siblings ... would then having a mating flight before being led to a new site ... the first three minutes have the swarm buzzing in waves ... before general bee swarm buzzing ... some sounds are specific to the queens ... called quacking and tooting ... one sound is to quiet the swarm so the other queen can be located and stung to death ...
