Recordist's notes
The recording was made at Book Café in the small accountant’s office at the rear on 25 August 2012. Evening’s performances had started and you can hear the sounds during our entire conversation, in fact the music begins to filters into the rhythm of the conversation. In this interview you can hear Chiwoniso “at home”, mbira-sounds in the background at the place where she loves to hang out and perform…. Here she relates her “spiritual connection” to the mbira… Chiwoniso Maraire was an accomplished Zimbabwe singer, songwriter and mbira artist from a family of musicians and music-scholars; she died 24 July 2013.
