Recordist's notes
I was in Namibia, the Kunene Region, camping with a group of 9 people from different countries. Here you can listen to our official meeting with the chief of an Himba Village, close to the Opuwo city. Our Himba guide translates for us chief's questions and gives him back our answers and our questions. The Himba chief was very curious to know how could 10 people from different places meet to be there all together. He was also curious about our countries, how far they were (in walking days!). He could not imagine people non having any children, or man having just one wife... His second wife joined us and you will hear us greeting her saying "Moro!" which means hallo in Himba. You can hear our guide explaining in details how the chief id dressed, the special giraffe-leather shoes he has, etc. Then he shows us the way the woman are dressed and coloured with the special mix of Ocra anf animal fat, which is typical of the Himba women. The recording is long and uncut, I hope you will enjoy it. PS at the end you can listen to my voice commenting it very briefly in Italian (sorry for that).
Context
This recording was made away from larger towns, about 199 km from the nearest city in our gazetteer.
