Recordist's notes
The reading group Decol_IfKiK was distinguished by the fact that they read different narratives in certain places in Berlin, which for many represent an unknown connection with German colonialism. Places, houses, monuments receive new narratives for a more open discourse about our common colonial past. at this site, the former News Agency for the Orient (NfO) Shortly after the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914 was the following November, the founding of the News Office for the Orient (NfO) by the Foreign Office and the Politics Department in the Deputy General Staff. The stumbling block to founding the NfO was a proposal by the diplomat and archaeologist Max von Oppenheim. In order to weaken the enemy forces, especially the British and French, von Oppenheim proposed to stir up insurrection in the British and French colonies of the Near and Middle East. In order to get Muslim soldiers and prisoners of war to fight for the German Reich, the NfO relied on targeted propaganda through pamphlets, newspapers and even films. These were spread on the fronts, among the Muslim prisoners of war, in the colonies of the Entente and in the German Reich in propaganda camps (for example in Wünsdorf, the so-called "half moon camp"). The NfO was financed by the budget of the Federal Foreign Office. While reading " Interracial Solidarity in Feminist Movement" the published speech of Claire Heuchen for the FiLiA2017, questions and conversation came to light on solidarity among women in today's arts and culture and the personal experiences of the continuing separation between women of color and white women, even in the feminist context.
