Recordist's notes
… continuing our archive conversations…. Mrs. Martha Chitalunyama, senior information resource officer, adds details about the content, transcription and publication practices of the ZNBC archives. For example, the video publications of ceremonies can often be accompanied by audio CDs of early recordings with Zambian artists from the archive’s vinyl collection. Broadcast technology was digitalized about 10 years ago leaving much of the archive’s cultural heritage currently unaired. Transcription services are slow with only one record player, which is in the dubbing studio, and thus, public access to the rich history of Zambian music and recordings remains a trickle. A large archive of spoken word recordings including traditional storytelling remains entirely untouched by transcriptions. There is as yet no online reference nor catalogue about these rich cultural resources. The entire playlist of recordings from ZNBC audio archives can be found at: https://archive.org/details/Voices_from_Lusaka_453 From: http://both-sides-of-the-zambezi.tumblr.com/
