Recordist's notes
The trains on Line 1 of the Madrid Metro are the oldest still in service. The "2000 Series" was manufactured between 1980 and 1990, and they have not yet been renovated like those on other lines because this line has a narrower track gauge and more pronounced curves (the tunnels date from 1919). This metros have a distinctive sound, with noisy engines, and specially when the carriages are stationary in the station and discharge air violently, reaching up to 130dB. 2026 will be the last year to enjoy these old carriages, which will be replaced by quieter and more boring ones in 2027. In the recording, one metro in each direction enter the station. The discharge of air is also audible.
