Recordist's notes
This is recorded using Sony PCM-D50, indoor. We can hear people loudly expressing “Wow” and “Ohhh” from all ages, including toddlers, teenagers, young adults, and parents. Sometimes even a slight screaming. These are all in different languages, including Chinese, Cantonese, and English. The sound is fascinating because it is highly personal: when people are amazed by the sharks and make a sound, they exclaim for themselves instead of for show. They feel safe that they don’t hold back when showing appreciation and amazement: they are in their own worlds. Worth noticeably is the fact that parents won’t restrain their children from making noise, which is an uncommon practice in Hong Kong.
