Recordist's notes
Bissingen an der Teck - Small square, fire service festivity. Bissingen was visited by R. M. Schafer and his team in 1975, in the course of 'Five Village Soundscapes', a research tour through Europe. The Canadian scientists interviewed local people about the sounds of everyday life, they drew sound maps, and they also made several field recordings (for further info on this project see http://www.sfu.ca/~truax/FVS/fvs.html). I knew Bissingen from these recordings only, besides some more recent recordings from Helmi Järviluoma and her colleagues, who visited the same European villages in 2000 (see http://6villages.tamk.fi/). So I was very curious to find out what it sounds like, now. [Hi-MD-recorder Sony MZ-NH900, Beyerdynamic MCE 82]
