Recordist's notes
Movable recording from inside my old Volvo on snowy bumpy roads in the mountains down to a less bumpy coastland rainy urban place, and the car (which isn´t in very perfect state) made some wonderful composition by itself - so i had to record this. The actual road is the mountain road between Sollefteå and Örnsköldsvik. When the recording is starting we´re somewhere around Gålsjö and when it is stopping we´re in Örnsköldsvik city by the seacoast. The climate changes as the vehicle moves more down to the sealevel. More high up there is a lot of snow (and problems with the state of the road aswell). Some notes written on the 3rd jan 2012: ======================================= the actual car journey was made in december, around the 8th 9th or something thereabout - and captures a sound i have been hearing for years in my car - - that only comes through under some special conditions - it´s like the weather humidity is affecting the squeeking... well you will hear - it´s not very special except this sonic specialty, maybe added to that you can actually hear alot of the mountain terrain by the roads condition - so maybe it reflects the landscape a bit - also reflects the state of me driving around in this 20 year old volvo - really bad looking but works very well - as it is constantly worked upon each year. I refuse to take another loan in the banks to buy a "newer" car, which is the alternative for me if i should start to think the car is not well enough. ((and a car is unfortunately very much needed here in the north of sweden)) The recording also reflects the state of the municipalities where the roads are - because they don´t work well with taking away the snow these days- the situation has been much worse the last 5 years, as there are cutdowns in all the maintainenance of roads. Some notes from 31st of march 2012: ==================================== now re-listening it some sortof celebration of spring and new life. when doing this travel i was really afraid about my daughters operation (that i was going to), and the snow had just falled some weeks earlier, and all things was getting more dark day by day. now hen relistening it is spring, the snow i melting away, and the sun from the back of the car is really sunny for me in this listening distance - also brings back an early early childhood memory of mine sitting in my parents in the the old SAAB, being blended by the sun in the summer by the backwindow - very warm and embracing memory of an child trave
