Recordist's notes
Traditionally, Barbara tells us, the baskets may be used for food and eating or, to give offerings to the ancestors; large, robust baskets are used for seeds in agricultural work. Today, basket weaving is appreciated as an art in its own right. The Binga Craft Centre often receives orders to make baskets for exhibitions in Zimbabwe or abroad [and, as Abbigal Muleya later tells us, many more, new products in Ilala-weaving are now being developed by the women, for example a hand-bag http://aporee.org/maps/work/?loc=19128]] From: http://both-sides-of-the-zambezi.tumblr.com/
