Recordist's notes
Soundscape of the late evening on Caqalai Island (pronounced Thangalai). Off season. About 10 people on the island and them either already asleep or being quiet. Sound of waves from nearby beach. Click and Crack sounds from twigs and branches. Various Insects. The squeaky and croaky calls from the canopy are from Pacific Reef Herons (Egretta sacra) at their night time or high-tide roost. Dummy head microphone placed in an area covered with trees and lush undergrowth. Mic facing south west. Recorded with a Sound Devices 702 field recorder and a modified Crown - SASS setup incorporating two Sennheiser mkh 20 microphones.
