Galeries Lafayette Berlin is a department store in Friedrichstraße. The building, designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, is also known as Quartier 207. The department stores‘ is operated by the French department stores’ chain Galeries Lafayette and is considered one of the most important buildings of the 1990s in Berlin. In October 2023, it was announced that the parent company in Paris intends to close the shop at the end of July 2024. Berlin's Senator for Culture is campaigning for the Berlin Central and Regional Library to move into the building. (Sony PCM D50)
