Recordist's notes
http://tai-studio.org At around -5˚C for several days, ice formed on the Baltic Sea near Helsinki. It drifted towards the old harbour where it collected and, at moderate winds and waves, bumped into each other. This is a downmix of simultaneous underwater and free-field stereo recordings. Equipment: + SoundDevices 633 + Kortwich Preamp (for hydrophones) + 2 JRF Hydrophones + 2 DPA 4060 + Reaper for post-processing Setup: + the DPA omni microphones were approximately one meter apart, close to the edge of the pier + the hydrophones where about 5m apart from each other, close to the water surface (10-20cm) + the downmix involved some EQing, levelling and stereo field attenuation.
