Recordist's notes

While waiting to go to Limpopo, South Africa to stay in a reserve for 2 weeks as part of Francisco Lopez's & James Webb's 'Sonic Mmabolela' residency I have been staying at the Wedgwood in Johannesburg. On my first night there I was exhausted from not getting any sleep on the 15 hour flight from Sydney, Australia so I went to bed at 8pm and woke up at 4am. And since I was up early I thought I would record the dawn chorus outside my room. I think it is mainly some species of weaver bird that is calling with some ravens in the background occasionally. I think! The recording stars when it was pitch black and ends after the light as emerged. Recorded with a pair of Audio Technica AT4022's and an Audio Technica BP4025 into a Tascam DR-680, with the two different mic set ups about a metre apart. https://soundcloud.com/jeremyhegge http://jeremyh.bandcamp.com/
