Rarefied night air

alarm going on and off and echoing off the vast apartment buildings around. conversation and laughs of a juvenile group among the trees. a carpet of crickets on a field in front of me. not too much traffic, sounds spreads effectively and repeats with a nice short delay. summer night - at it's peak.
