Recordist's notes

I took my recorder along to a cabin in the countryside of Minas Gerais to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday, followed by New Year’s Eve. Being in a mountainous and elevated region, the even mild weather contrasted with the scorching and humid heat typical of the Brazilian summer. The window of my room framed a lush and ever-changing landscape, starring the Mantiqueira Mountains, where the Pedra do Baú, a distinct flat rock formation, stood out at the center of the view. What you listen to in this recording is living nature praising the last sunrise of 2024, accompanied by the continuous and meditative sound of a small creek flowing about 30 meters away, down the mountain.
