Recordist's notes
In 1968, french speaking students were fired from the Leuven university, a dutch speaking university. Problems were so important, the autorities made a completely new city, called "The New Leuven", which is said in french Louvain-La-Neuve. Today, it's an enormous french speaking university and quite big city ; you can see it with the Google Map, it's huge ! During this difficult perdiod, students stole one cobblestone in Leuven and put it in concrete, here in Louvain-La-Neuve, as we are here in the very first place built in the city. It's a symbol, the old stone from Leuven for a new city in Louvain-La-Neuve. This stone is traditionnaly called the Sacred Stone. As I cover as much as I can the Louvain-La-Neuve city in an aporee sound map, it was important for me to speak about this lonely stone. Today exceptionnaly, wind was blowing in vortex, leading dead leaves. In other times, this place called Sainte-Barbe, is extraordinary quiet. So, here is my sound of the Sacred Stone. David Phillips speaks about the beginning of Louvain-La-Neuve and the sacred stone : a href='http://aporee.org/maps/?loc=31547
