Recordist's notes
This lovely green courtyard, with shady trees is typical of Nazi era (late 1930s) housing in this area. The surrounding buildings protect the interior from outside sounds, especially the autobahn roar, creating a quiet and peaceful atmosphere where children play and long lines are provided for hanging out washing. Unusually this one has been left more or less intact with no space yet taken for parking cars. Bells and voices reverberate gently when they occur. Crow calls may echo two or three times.
