Recordist's notes
A cannon is fired daily at Janiculum hill. The tradition started in 1947. Back then the cannon gave the sign to the surrounding belltowers to start ringing at midday. The cannon is fired exactly at noon and the command to fire it is sent via cell phone form one of the Italian atomic clocks. attention - the shot comes about 2:44 and it's really loud compared to the rest of the recording.
