Recordist's notes

Futunakaba village women singing. These women were participating in a project to learn them sustainable agriculture and hpow to sell their surplus on local markets. So for the first time they got money in their purse. Some men were happy with this extra income, others objected to it: women with thwie own money could get to much confidence and a big mouth. I asked a woman what she woulkd buy from her first well-earned money. She answered: "Matrassi!"
