Recordist's notes

...we are sitting with Chiza Mwiinde in front of a large hut on the grounds of Tusimpe Catholic Mission the thatched roof offers a nice shade to linger and hides us just about enough from a strong wind which is – as you’ll hear – playing wildly with the dry leaves and bushes around Chiza was born in Binga, a place at the back of beyond as some say, and is now studying geo-sciences at Smith College in the US. We worked together at the local womens organisation Zubo Trust, Chiza as an Intern, me as a multimedia volunteer. I was intrigued by her art of storytelling, especially about rocks, her research so I enticed her into this long interview to share her story with us, her journey as a girl from rural Binga becoming a woman geo-scientist . https://archive.org/details/Storyteller_of_Rocks
