Recordist's notes

This is the sound of Pete Glanville's Shetland sheep passing in a flock, on their way down to the large pen nearer to the house, where their health is checked, and where they get their supplementary feed. This flock is certified organic, and is one of the flocks whose fleeces are processed into Shetland Organics yarn. They are small sheep, with fleeces in many different colours, and of outstanding quality. Pete Glanville - their shepherd - was amazingly helpful to me during my visit to Shetland, and it was his suggestion that he bring the sheep in towards their pen, and that I place my microphones somewhere where I could document this moment. This recording was made by placing my EDIROL R-09 about halfway along the path the sheep take to their pen.
