Recordist's notes
For my third track, I decided to take a recording in the tram line 8 as it is one of the most frequently used ones by me. While I generally do prefer walking, tramrides are an everyday event that kinda has a unique atmosphere to them. They're like waiting rooms and you're not really doing anything during the ride, yet you're moving to a certain destination. I always thought the soundscape of the tram to be very stimulating, the ongoing technical noise mixed with the sound of people talking, entering and leaving the ride. While in some situations I find myself distressed by the constant noise, more often than not, it actually creates more of a blur around me, like a place separate from time and space, where it's just me and my thoughts. Like with my other recordings, I used a Soundman OKM Surround Mic and my Zoom Recorder to record these sounds as it allowed my to capture the soundscape the way that I myself experienced it as I was taking the ride.
