Recordist's notes

For my most recent recording I wanted to wait for spring to come around in Halle. There is something about those first days of the year when the sun is out and it starts getting warmer, all the people going out to spend time in the park with friends and family, birds chirping, leafs rustling in the wind... Everybody is just having a good time, all seems fine and full of life to make for a stark contrast for the months that came before. Makes me feel like the first time people were streaming out of their homes again after the pandemic, makes me remember that life goes on, through and beyond the cold and dark times. In Halle, there is no place like the general area around Ziegelwiese/Peißnitzinsel to experience that exact feeling of community as nature seems to bring everyone together. Again, I was using a Soundman OKM Surround Microphone and my Zoom recorder to simulate the audible experience of actually being there as I'm taking a stroll exploring the soundscape of spring in Halle.
