Palm trees trunks are covered with matted dry fibres, the remains of leaf fronds from previous years. It's easy to hide a contact microphone amongst them. They sound when a wind blows. Another contactmic picking up the bassier sound of a bigger branch as it meets the trunk recorded in sync is mixed in. DIY piezo contact mics: Triton Bigamp piezo preamps
