Recordist's notes

I have to guess at the time, but I know it was surprisingly early that we woke up to the sound of Buddhist chants being broadcast via loudspeaker over the village of Yuksom from the local temple. These chants went on for the whole day, and if my memory is correct also for the day after. The chants are punctuated by percussion/horn crescendos, and interspersed with plenty of birdsong from outside the hostel window, and the occasional cockerel crow, engine or voice from the street. Recorded on an OLYMPUS VN8600.
