Recordist's notes
I noticed quite recently, while out walking, that when the telephone rings at this old salvage yard, an external bell on the outside of the building lets the proprietor know. Presumably this is so that if working outside, a phonecall won't be missed, but the texture of the sound like everything in the salvage yard has an amazingly vintage feel to it, as though it is ringing to us from another time in history. You can also still hear from this distance some reflections off the walls and buildings of the beautiful bells of St. Giles and the Thursday evening practice of the bell-ringers.
