Recordist's notes
In late summer, the soundscape is taken over by the orhopterans and the birds gradually fall silent. However, some songbirds persist in singing despite the high temperatures. Such stayers are, for example, Eurasian blackcaps (here the main stars: one near the microphone, the other some distance to the right) or Common chiffchaffs (one present also on the recording). I made the recording on my way from work through the gardens of Břevnovský Kášter, near the baroque orangery building. The songbirds were apparently encouraged to sing by the heavy rain from the thunderstorm that had swept through Prague about an hour earlier. You can hear the water dripping from the trees when the wind blows.
