Recordist's notes
European blackbird male singing melodiously in the middle of Petřiny housing estate. Several other birds can also be heard (jackdaws, common wood pigeon, nuthatches, great tits, and so on). On the left, an older lady is trimming a bush in front of one of the houses. Tall buildings create nice reverberation throughout the recording. Minor traffic is present, too, notably a passing of pizza delivery electromobile. One interesting aspect about this particular blackbird's singing: some of his singing phrases end with a noticeable (and somehow out-of-place) high note, a perfect imitation of a black woodpecker's melancholic call, somehow recalling the blackbird's own woodland origins. Recorded with Sony PCM-D100 handheld recorder.
