Recordist's notes

The sound of Lake Ontario at the newly-rebuilt Port Dalhousie East Pier (St. Catharines, ON). First we hear the Zoom H2n on the surface of the pier, then amid the rock berm below the pier surface but above the water, then we hear the Aquarian Audio H2a hydrophone about a half meter underwater at 2 close locations. The Port Dalhousie Piers, first constructed in the 1840s at the terminus of the second Welland Canal, extend the mouth of Port Dalhousie harbour on both the east and west banks. The piers were closed for safety reasons in 2015 and re-opened in June 2021.
