Recordist's notes
A stationary and mobile recording outside and inside a care home. The philharmonic band performs a medley of popular patron saint songs. The recording documents the "sonic door" effect—the transition from the distant outdoor atmosphere to the loud, festive interior. A sharp contrast is noted between the solemnity of the religious procession (the bell outside) and the joyful music and applause within.
