Recordist's notes
This afternoon felt like the first sounds of spring; it was actually warm and we could hear two Great Tits doing their squeaky wheel song, followed by the song of a Robin and then the beautiful song of a Songthrush. Mark and I stood on the bank of the River Kennet listening to the Songthrush singing in a tree facing us on the opposite bank. The song went on until a passerby startled the bird. I always notice how loud the traffic sound from the A33 is in this area, but also how diverse the sounds are within this little unkempt patch of land.
