Recordist's notes
In an identical location to where the hydrophones were placed in the adjacent recording, I held omni microphones on a stereo bar on monopod, my boots in the stream water, my free hand clinging to the bridge for safety. The main Tromsø / Romsa airport is some 1 kilometre distant across a wide expanse of water that is crossed by a road bridge. The presence of aircraft sounds - both take-offs and landings and general taxiing sound - were referred to by the participants in the soundwalk that invited us to spend time here and can be heard in this recording.
About the place
Tromsø is a town of about 41,915 people in Troms, Norway. OttoAnna lists 30 field recordings from here.
Equipment mentioned: Hydrophones. Underwater microphones used for whales, fish, ice and the hidden sounds of rivers and ponds.
