Recordist's notes
After the spillway, the waters released by the dam reservoir gain momentum down the steep slopes, building energy and revealing a power that the person who designed the soundwalk that took us here suggested was a measure of a nature that was neither timid nor weak. That this power came from a human channelling of the water source was seen by the soundwalk conductor as something positive - an indication of how nature and culture are deeply entwined. A small bridge over the steep valley provided a way to get closer to the water, recorded here with an omni pair. Different microphone positions were tried but I couldn’t capture what my ears perceived as the reverberation of water sounds from the underside of the bridge.
