Recordist's notes
Opera Lwowska is an opera house designed by Polish architect Zygmunt Gorgolewski constructed between 1897 and 1900 on marshland of the submerged Poltva River. The place was chosen because of the density of houses in historical center. Despite the engineering innovations invented by Gorgolewski to construct the foundation on the marshland, it began soon slowly sink in the Poltva river running underneath. In July 1903 Gorgolewski died and the building ceased 'sinking’. It remains stable to this day. The entrance is protected against the pigeons by a sonice weapon - a pulse which you can hear on this recording.
