Recordist's notes

A real time recording by the wood shed at the end of the garden. This is 5am and the end of a 10 hour overnight capture. Ducks fly onto the pond, owls and birds call and thankfully there is hardly any traffic on Hanley Road. The cars you can hear are 2 -5 miles away their sounds reflecting from the Severn Valley floor up the lower slopes of the Malvern Hills. A mouse runs across in front of the recorder. A rat trap snaps. There is one sound early in this piece I cannot identify. I place the omni microphones in a 180 degree configuration on top of the rucksack which holds the recorder the whole kit then sits on a large chair an arms length from the pond facing south.
