Recordist's notes
On Boscombe Pier there is a wonderful selection of interactive musical instruments with which you are encouraged to interact. pigeons roost under the pier, the air and the waves join in the music, and you can play various instruments if you wish. These tubular bells are arranged in a horseshoe shape to be playable by folks with pushchairs or in wheelchairs. Unfortunately someone has cut off the nice rubbery mallets originally provided, but a reusable coffee cup with a silicone lid made a nice drumstick for a little duet with the waves.
