Recordist's notes
Heather clad wide open moors on the Pennine Way - the spectacular long distance path along the spine of northern England. Wind constantly gusts through grass tufts, heather and low bushes. Planes always roar overhead. On this day the longest gap between one flight and the next was 90 seconds. The city of Manchester was hazily visible in the far distance. It is a fiercely sunny day and I'm struck by the variety of head ware of my fellow walkers - baseball caps, hijabs, turbans, straw boaters, a trilby.
