Recordist's notes

Beside the hydroelectric Pelton Dam on the Deschutes River the sound is mainly electrical hum, passing traffic and small planes. Suddenly these eagle cries pierced through the drones. His eyrie was on the platform at the top of a very high pole. The electricity company had erected this artificial nesting site next to their dam, presumably as a gesture to nature in the face of their impact on the drowned river canyon and surrounding landscape. The eagle chick was some distance away. His/her screech is impressively loud.
