Recordist's notes
Bombilyius Major - what a wonderful name - also known as Large Bee Fly is a bee mimic; he has a long probyscus and hums happily whilst drinking nektar. Today on our threshing floor (Aloni) on a pleasant (25C) sunny day with a slight breeze he was in chorus with a stridulating Acrida mediterranea (grasshopper) -please can someone confirm spcies and activity - and strimmer (Apostolis with his Stihl). It seems as if they all try to tune to each other and sing in harmony. This was recorded using a Phonak lapel mic with low pass filter, mounted on a selfie stick with a mini Rycote windgag to an Olympus LS 14. Edited simply in Audacity: selection of fragment, fade i/o
