Recordist's notes
The Common Broom (Cytisus scoparius – Gewöhnlicher Besenginster) grows plentifully on this heathland hill. It has yellow flowers and in summer the seed pods ripen and when dry burst open in warm sun with a sharp click, scattering the seeds. The sound is not loud at all but catches the ear easily. In this recording a chiffchaff calls regularly and in the far distance sometimes drums from the Latitude Festival, 4km away, carry in the wind.
