Recordist's notes
This is the sound of Ella assembling shade cards for prospective buyers of Shetland wool. Jamieson & Smith stock an amazing number of different shades, and distant buyers need to be able to see tiny samples of all of these. What you can hear is Ella taking balls of the different shades out of a plastic storage bag, cutting small lengths of them, and then tying them onto pieces of card with the shade numbers corresponding to the shades written on them. The sound in Jamieson & Smith is lovely; a mellow, woody tone, with the softness of a place that is stacked floor to ceiling with amazing knitted things and objects comprised of wool.
