Recordist's notes
Every year boats of all types receive a blessing in the harbour then sound their horns in celebration. Recorded from the foredeck of the Queen Mary 2 using a MixPre 6 II with 2 Beyer MCE 5 lavalier mics. The smaller boats were 1000 metres away with the sound propagating well across the waters of the harbour. It seemed at the time that they were calling to those lost at sea. A very moving experience for all on board.
