Recordist's notes

Chediston Hall farm is a large farm in the area and run on an industrial scale - huge fields, few hedges and regular chemical use. Crops are often protected from birds by gas-operated bird scarers emitting loud bangs at irregular intervals through the day. These recording were made from an audio stream placed near (approx 15m) to one of the gas guns on the edge of a pea field. There is another 80m away in the next field and several far more distant can also be heard. The weather was stormy with gusty winds and occasional rain. A public footpath popular with dog walkers runs very close to this location.
