Recordist's notes
Winds blow easily across these large unprotected fields, eroding the soil as they go. They gust through the low bramble hedges shivering leaves and prickly stems around the hidden microphones, sometimes briefly touching and knocking into them. When recording in person I would have been holding the mics rather than placing them out of sight inside the hedge. Streaming, where the equipment is left in place for 2 or 3 days, results in this kind of close, more physical relationship with the vegetation (birds and animals come much closer too, sometimes finding and examining the mics). It gives a very different sound perspective, a point of ear that would be impossible in the recordist's presence.
