Recordist's notes
Recorded facing towards the stern on the top deck under the funnel of the ship. The Verrazzano Narrows suspension bridge is fast approaching. The funnel will slip under it with a few metres to spare. The anticipation is always fun for those on the top deck. If you listen carefully in the last second or two before the whistle you can hear the approaching bridge and the first breath of air before the main blast. Once under the bridge the lights of Manhattan and Brooklyn fall away rapidly and then The Atlantic.
