Recordist's notes

This recording was made using a Zoom H4N. The recorder was positioned on the track on the butterfly walk in Haldon Forest Park under the electricity pylons. This area has the vegetation under the pylons cleared regularly this provides important habitat for butterflies such as the rare pearl-bordered fritillary. The pylons pass through the landscape and the slight audible buzz that they emit can be heard on the recording. A chainsaw is being used in the forest which can also be heard. This recording is part of a series of recordings that will be taken across the landscape, Devon Wildland, to highlight the soundscape that wildlife experience and highlight any potential soundscape barriers that may effect connectivity for wildlife.
