Recordist's notes
This recording was made using a Zoom H4N. The recorder was positioned next to the road at Cotley Castle- an iron age hill fort that has recently been cleared of vegetation. The field next door was being ploughed and tractors and machinery passed by during the recording. 5 buzzards were seen circling and these can be heard towards the end of the recording. The road is lined with beech trees and the breeze in the leaves can just be heard. This recording is part of a series of recordings that will be taken across the landscape, Devon Wildland, to highlight the soundscape that wildlife experience and highlight any potential soundscape barriers that may effect connectivity for wildlife.
