Recordist's notes
This is the sound underwater in a bay in Antibes where we snorkelled and swam. I don't know what all the tiny popping, crackling sounds are? Perhaps they are the sounds of tiny underwater creatures making bubbles under the water... barnacles perhaps? It sounds very alive and I think the splish at some point in the recording was made by a fish. It was lovely to stand in the sea at night and eavesdrop on all the life beneath its surface in the dark. Recorded in mono with just one hydrophone plugged into EDIROL R-09. Apologies for the handling noise when the tide dragged the microphone cable around, but editing this sound out ruined the rhythm of the waves, so I thought better to leave it in.
