Recordist's notes
Before being auctioned off, the rams are all inspected for The Shetland Flock Book. This involves bringing all the rams into the show ring and assessing their breed characteristics, seeing how they stand, their confirmation, fleece quality, teeth etc. The rams are managed by a few crofters who herd them into the ring, and they sometimes butt the metal walls of that ring with their amazing horns.
